Questlove will provide the score for the upcoming romantic drama Vincent N Roxxy. The feature will premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in New York City next month.
According to Film Music Reporter, the thriller follows a suburban loner, played by Emile Hirsch, and a punk rocker, played by Zo Kravitz, who fall in love but are followed by violence after they go on the run. Gary Michael Schultz (Devil in My Ride) directed the feature, which will also star Kid Cudi as a character named Suga.
Questlove had previously scored the 2014 film Top Five starring Chris Rock and Rosario Dawson. He has also scored episodes of Inside Amy Schumer and continues to perform with the Roots as the house band on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
Last week, the drummer and music producers father Lee Andrews passed away at age 79. Andrews had been a doo-wop singer in the group Andrews and the Hearts, best known for songs Long Lonely Nights, Tear Drops and Try the Impossible. Questlove praised his father as the Greatest Teacher in My Life in a written tribute and thanked him for drum lessons and for giving the musician a tireless work ethic.
Kravitz most recently starred in Dope, Mad Max: Fury Road and the latest installment of the Divergent series, Insurgent. Cudi has been pursuing acting for several years now, having starred in the series How to Make it in America for two seasons beginning in 2010. He appeared in the films Meadowland and Jason White last year and had a guest spot on the cop sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine in 2013.
