Hastine Info | Watch The Ring Franchise Return After a Decade in New Rings Trailer

Its been 11 years since the last Americanized remake of the popular Japanese horror franchise The Ring. Now hearing the chilling phrase seven days over the phone is an unmistakable death sentence in the trailer for the latest installment,Rings.

The trailer begins by re-establishing the basic premise of the series: some poor soul watches a haunted VHS tape, receives a phone call with the whispered warning of seven days and then dies a gruesome death after the worst week of their life. Italian newcomer Matilda Lutz is the first victim in the trailer, cursed with peeling skin and a stomach-churning hairball after pleading youre not real over and over.Rings appears to return to the series time-tested plot schematic, but amplifies it to even greater extremes, as the plural of the title would suggest.

In Rings, a new cast including Hannibals Vincent DOnofrio, The Big Bang Theorys Johnny Galecki and Friday Night Lights Aimee Teegarden faces off against the perpetually-wet-looking ghost girl that first tormented unwitting victims in 2002s The Ring. You want to know about the girl in the well? a mysterious stranger asks, hinting that audiences may get a little bit of backstory for her.

He goes on, forebodingly: Youve opened up a door now, no one is safe. After all, its only a matter of time until someone converts the evil VHS tape to digital and it goes viral in six-second bursts on Vine.

Rings comes to theaters on October 28th.
